Snow is still brittle, but patches were partly melted yesterday and easy to use, so some of us might go out today. Unfortunately they closed the gate to the Great Lawn (it’s less than 6 inches) but we can make little bears on top of the snow surrounding the fence.

Before 1pm it is too cold, best temperatures are forecasted from 3pm to 5pm

We meet at the north-west entrance of the Great Lawn in Central Park (on the height of 85th St.)

If you build a bear somewhere else don’t forget to take a photo and send it to polarbearfestnyc@gmail.com, and please also send photos, from any snowboard you encounter.

Hopefully see you soon and maybe this year we are not able to fill the entire Great Lawn with hundreds of snowbears, but we can place them on the entire snow fence around it!

STAY WARM

Together We Fight The Climate Crisis

We invite everybody to come out on days when there’s enough snow on the ground to build snowbears on the Great Lawn of Central Park, New York City.

Building snowbears is a creative demonstration - our version of a march - demanding an end to the corporate, military, and state emission of greenhouse gases.

While it doesn’t require dramatic actions, it opens our minds and hearts to the sphere of hope and of possibility, and garners public attention in a unique way.
