Update February 14/ 15
Snow is still brittle, but the top layer is melted and buildable, so some of us will be out. Unfortunately the Great Lawn is closed (it’s less than 6 inches) therefore we started to make little snowbears on top of the console like snow surrounding the fence.
Go with your friends or family and add a little snowbear to the fence, it can be done in 10 min. and will be so much fun!
Meeting point is at the north-west entrance of the Great Lawn in Central Park (on the height of 85th St.) but you can make your little snowbear anywhere around the fence, or wherever you are
Don’t forget to take a photo from your creation and send it to polarbearfestnyc@gmail.com.
We might not able to fill the entire Great Lawn this year with hundreds of snowbears, but imagine hundreds of little ones sitting around the fence!
STAY WARM
Together We Fight The Climate Crisis
We invite everybody to come out on days when there’s enough snow on the ground to build snowbears on the Great Lawn of Central Park, New York City.
Building snowbears is a creative demonstration - our version of a march - demanding an end to the corporate, military, and state emission of greenhouse gases.
While it doesn’t require dramatic actions, it opens our minds and hearts to the sphere of hope and of possibility, and garners public attention in a unique way.
